# 8d7s — eight-seven offsuit

**Fold from every position when the pot is unopened.** 8d7s ranks 117 of the 169 distinct starting hands
(top 65.0%). Against one random hand it wins
42.75% of showdowns and takes 45.08% of the pot.

## What this hand is

Eight-seven offsuit. Before any board card is dealt its odds are identical to
8c7d, 8c7h, 8c7s, 8d7c, 8d7h, 8h7c, 8h7d, 8h7s, 8s7c, 8s7d, 8s7h — suits are interchangeable pre-flop, so all
12 combinations in class 87o share the numbers below.
That stops being true the moment the board has suits, which is what the paid
record covers.

## Equity against random opponents

| Opponents | Win % | Tie % | Pot equity % |
| --------- | ----- | ----- | ------------ |
| 1 | 42.75 | 4.65 | 45.08 |
| 2 | 28.75 | 3.48 | 30.30 |
| 3 | 21.73 | 3.07 | 23.09 |
| 4 | 17.06 | 2.88 | 18.35 |
| 5 | 14.13 | 2.69 | 15.33 |
| 6 | 11.86 | 2.63 | 13.04 |
| 7 | 10.26 | 2.48 | 11.37 |

Monte Carlo, 400,000 trials per row, seed 1 —
same seed, same digits. "Pot equity" counts outright wins plus a share of split
pots, which is the number to compare against pot odds.

## Head-to-head, exact

Against the opponent's whole hand class, not one chosen pair of cards: every
combination of it you do not block, each enumerated over all 1,712,304
boards. No sampling. "Combos" is how many were averaged.

| Against | Hero pot equity % | Hero win % | Split % | Combos |
| ------- | ----------------- | ---------- | ------- | ------ |
| AA | 18.66 | 18.50 | 0.31 | 6 |
| KK | 18.22 | 18.06 | 0.34 | 6 |
| QQ | 17.89 | 17.72 | 0.34 | 6 |
| JJ | 17.10 | 16.92 | 0.36 | 6 |
| TT | 15.71 | 15.49 | 0.44 | 6 |
| 77 | 35.70 | 34.46 | 2.48 | 3 |
| 22 | 51.13 | 49.91 | 2.45 | 6 |
| AKs | 35.76 | 35.55 | 0.41 | 4 |
| AKo | 37.61 | 37.42 | 0.39 | 12 |
| AQs | 35.44 | 35.23 | 0.42 | 4 |
| JTs | 33.25 | 32.69 | 1.12 | 4 |
| 76s | 65.48 | 59.01 | 12.95 | 3 |

Averaging matters here. Against a single representative the answer shifts with
the suits — J♣T♣ takes 17.77% against Q♣Q♦ but 18.89% against Q♠Q♦, because the
shared club both blocks a flush and removes cards. Averaged over the class the
figure is the same whichever suits you hold, which is what makes it quotable.

## What this page cannot tell you

Pre-flop equity is not a strategy. It ignores stack depth, bet sizing, and how
your opponents actually play. The verdict above is a conventional opening chart,
not solver output. Equity against a random hand is also not equity against a
range: an opponent who raises has better than random cards, and this page does
not model that.
