# Qs7s — queen-seven of spades

**Open-raise from the button onward; fold it in earlier seats.** Qs7s ranks 61 of the 169 distinct starting hands
(top 34.1%). Against one random hand it wins
52.46% of showdowns and takes 54.26% of the pot.

## What this hand is

Queen-seven of spades. Before any board card is dealt its odds are identical to
Qc7c, Qd7d, Qh7h — suits are interchangeable pre-flop, so all
4 combinations in class Q7s share the numbers below.
That stops being true the moment the board has suits, which is what the paid
record covers.

## Equity against random opponents

| Opponents | Win % | Tie % | Pot equity % |
| --------- | ----- | ----- | ------------ |
| 1 | 52.46 | 3.60 | 54.26 |
| 2 | 34.77 | 3.52 | 36.41 |
| 3 | 26.29 | 3.24 | 27.76 |
| 4 | 21.01 | 3.02 | 22.38 |
| 5 | 17.84 | 2.90 | 19.15 |
| 6 | 15.30 | 2.83 | 16.57 |
| 7 | 13.48 | 2.73 | 14.70 |

Monte Carlo, 400,000 trials per row, seed 1 —
same seed, same digits. "Pot equity" counts outright wins plus a share of split
pots, which is the number to compare against pot odds.

## Head-to-head, exact

Against the opponent's whole hand class, not one chosen pair of cards: every
combination of it you do not block, each enumerated over all 1,712,304
boards. No sampling. "Combos" is how many were averaged.

| Against | Hero pot equity % | Hero win % | Split % | Combos |
| ------- | ----------------- | ---------- | ------- | ------ |
| AA | 16.49 | 16.30 | 0.37 | 6 |
| KK | 16.22 | 16.03 | 0.39 | 6 |
| QQ | 11.83 | 10.91 | 1.83 | 3 |
| JJ | 31.32 | 31.13 | 0.39 | 6 |
| TT | 31.22 | 31.02 | 0.40 | 6 |
| 77 | 34.54 | 33.37 | 2.35 | 3 |
| 22 | 50.23 | 49.62 | 1.21 | 6 |
| AKs | 33.81 | 33.57 | 0.49 | 4 |
| AKo | 36.21 | 35.99 | 0.45 | 12 |
| AQs | 27.56 | 26.78 | 1.56 | 3 |
| JTs | 54.51 | 54.05 | 0.92 | 4 |
| 76s | 66.78 | 64.71 | 4.13 | 3 |

Averaging matters here. Against a single representative the answer shifts with
the suits — J♣T♣ takes 17.77% against Q♣Q♦ but 18.89% against Q♠Q♦, because the
shared club both blocks a flush and removes cards. Averaged over the class the
figure is the same whichever suits you hold, which is what makes it quotable.

## What this page cannot tell you

Pre-flop equity is not a strategy. It ignores stack depth, bet sizing, and how
your opponents actually play. The verdict above is a conventional opening chart,
not solver output. Equity against a random hand is also not equity against a
range: an opponent who raises has better than random cards, and this page does
not model that.
