The rules referee
Describe what happened in ordinary words — “the dealer turned a card while dealing”, “he put in one big chip without saying raise” — and get a ruling, free and without an account.
What makes it useful
- It says which rule set it followed. Choose the one in force: tournament (Poker TDA), cardroom cash game, a major casino festival, a UK pub or amateur league, or a home game.
- It flags where the sets disagree — a casino floor and a pub league often decide the same incident differently, and knowing that ends more arguments than the ruling itself.
- Nine common situations are one tap away: misdeal, acting out of turn, calling the clock, an exposed card, a string bet, whether a verbal declaration binds, showdown order, a dead hand, and all-in side pots.
- Rulings can be shared. The link carries the question and the rule set, so the person you are arguing with sees exactly what you asked.
How far it goes
It is guidance, not a verdict. House rules vary, and at a real table the floor's or tournament director's decision is final — the referee says so itself. It answers from summaries of the major rule sets written for this site, so it cites a standard rather than an opinion.
